Minimize the amount of cholesterol, trans fats and saturated fats. There are better choices that are readily available to you, like whole grains, vegetables, fruits and beans. The additional fiber of these food items will fill you up without contributing unnecessary calories.</p>

There are a lot of people who have been trying fat loss diets over the years and have failed. The reason they have not succeeded is that they used gimmicks and lose-weight-fast diets that do more damage than good. Here are some sensible things to keep in mind when you try to lose weight.</p>
<p>1. Figure out how you got here. You may need to learn to eat better, or you may need to overcome problems that are encouraging you to eat. Whether it&#8217;s a lifestyle change or an emotional problem, you may need to do something about it to encourage fat loss. There may even be a hormonal problem that&#8217;s responsible for your weight &#8211; to find out, you&#8217;ll need to talk to a competent doctor who doesn&#8217;t have prejudices against you. Once you know what circumstances have caused your gain, you can deal with the problem more easily.</p>
<p>2. Decide that from now on you control your food intake. Look for a long term healthy diet that will allow you to live a healthy life. Do not let friends and family pressure you into eating something you shouldn&#8217;t eat. Do not let restaurant menus or food in your fridge influence what you will be eating. Eat only what you decide you will be eating in order to attain a healthy lifestyle.</p>
<p>3. Instead of eating three big meals, eat small frequent meals. If you eat frequently throughout the day, your metabolism works continuously and burns calories. If you eat big meals your metabolism goes up and down and it is actually harder to lose weight that way. Pay attention to what you eat during these meals and stay away from processed snacks that are high in fat and sugar.</p>
<p>4. Chew your food well. If you eat slowly and enjoy the taste of your food, you will get more pleasure out of eating. You will also end up eating less because it takes your body some to to register that it is full. If you eat too fast &#8211; you will end up eating more before you realize that you are full.</p>
<p>5. Don&#8217;t make huge changes. Many fat loss diets want you to eat totally unfamiliar foods or make big changes in your lifestyle. Those are pretty hard to maintain, and can be frustrating. Instead, start out with small, manageable changes in what you&#8217;re already doing. Once you&#8217;ve been doing them for long enough that they&#8217;ve become a habit, you can move to other healthy changes. Never starve yourself &#8211; that can actually make matters worse by lowering your metabolism.</p>
<p>6. Eat a balanced diet and don&#8217;t eat processed food. Eating processed food is really bad for you because it is high in fat and sugar. It will cause you to gain weight and put you at risk for diabetes and other physical problems. Foods like lean protein, whole grains, and fruits and vegetables are much better for you and will help you stay healthy in the long run.</p>
<p>7. Make sure you drink throughout the day. Sometimes when you think you are hungry, you are actually thirsty. Hydrating yourself properly will make you feel full, and will help your body cleanse itself. Water is the best beverage, so make sure to drink as much water as you need.</p>

Choosing high quality hay is a good place to start. The way a horse&#8217;s digestive system works the high fiber and roughage found in quality forage is good for them.</p>
<p>For years horsemen have used alfalfa hay which has its pros and cons. Aside from the expense and its limited availability, the hay itself is so rich in nutrients and so fine, it can actually cause health and even behavior problems for a horse. However using alfalfa hay in small amounts can be beneficial.</p>
<p>Grass based hays such as Timothy, Alicia, Russell or Orchard grass are good choices in quality forage. The Timothy hay seems to be somewhat heavy in stalk especially if it is baled late in the season. By contrast Orchard grass hay is a softer hay with wider blades and horses seem to prefer this type over the Timothy.</p>
<p>Alicia and Russell hay, grown primarily in the south east, are good forage choices as well. Alicia hay is a finer grass, that tolerates heat and drought quite well. Russell hay is a bit thicker, with an overall higher protein content. Coastal Bermuda hay is also an excellent choice for a nice grass type base to your feeding program.</p>
<p>Finding a good hay producer can sometimes be difficult. Talk with the farmer about his crop first, and inspect the hay before buying. No matter the type, all hay should have a good green color, a fresh smell, no dust, and no mold. (This last is particularly important.) Buying poor hay will not save you money in the long run, as you will end up with unnecessary vet bills.</p>
<p>Having the hay tested by your local agency for agriculture can also help you in setting up the best feeding program for your horse.</p>
<p>Several things you should also take into account when setting up a program are age, activity level and breeding of the horse. Different breeds may require different dietary supplements.</p>
<p>Basically, to keep your horse in optimum health find a good quality hay then provide whatever supplements they may need. Always have plenty of fresh clean water, a mineral block and exercise.</p>

<p>The first major advantage of a vegetarian diet is increased heart health. Vegetarians, on average, consume more nuts (often as a supplemental form of protein). Nuts contain &#8220;good&#8221; fats, such as omega-3 and omega-6. This promotes good heart health by reducing &#8220;bad&#8221; cholesterol and unclogging arteries. In addition to nuts, vegetarians also consume more soy milk (often to replace milk), which reduces &#8220;bad&#8221; cholesterol and has been linked to good heart health.</p>
<p>In addition to preventing death and suffering through dietary selections, some vegans have vow to prevent it in all other capacities.</p>
<p>Fruits and vegetables also contain high amounts of fiber, which helps flush toxins out of the body, further contributing to better skin health.The last health advantage vegetarians enjoy is an increased natural consumption of antioxidants.</p>
<p>Antioxidants are foods that help prevent cancer by destroying free radicals. Vitamin C and Vitamin E, two strong antioxidants, are commonly found in vegetarian meals.</p>

<p>It means the popular mythology about vegetarian diets is false. Not only can a vegetarian diet be nutritionally sufficient, but it can also affect better skin health, prevent cancer, and increase your heart health.</p>
